Mario Golf: Super Rush - Nintendo Switch Forum (2024)

Huh, there’s no Mario Golf thread.

I’m not normally keen on the Mario sports games apart from Kart and Strikers but this actually looks awesome. The running around mechanic is clever fun and the costumes are pretty cool. It seems to be catching to as I’ve seen Daisy is trending at the moment.

I may not get it but it’s very tempting as it looks fun.

One thing I'd like to know more about is the motion controls. Is it going to be fairly robust to where you can control the power, curve, and spin of the shot all with your swing, ala Wii Sports' golf, or will it just be super basic, where swinging the joy-con is essentially just an on and off switch for the swing, with things like curve and spin being set ahead of time via button input?

I've got golfers in my family, and Wii Sports has been one of the few video games that they like to play, with its intuitive, relatable controls. I've been hoping that this game might scratch that itch on the newer system, but the more it relies on button pressing over real-life-ish controls, the less interested I think they'll be.

I'll be keeping an eye on this game for sure, it looks great overall! Speed Golf and Battle Golf look really fun - I wonder if these modes are playable online.

@imagazelle If I had to guess, it'd be similar to how golf works on Wii Sports Resort, where it makes use of Wii MotionPlus. So probably the former.

I'm not sure if it's exactly my kind of game, but the new trailer looked pretty cool IMO, and I came away shocked at the nearly constant negativity surrounding it on the main site's article comment section.

EDIT: just went back through it & the comments weren't nearly as negative as I first thought. Must not have been fully awake yet, lol.

I'll grab it day one. Mario Golf has always been my favorite Mario sports game.

It’s not the most ground breaking thing in the world but the new costumes really have injected a lot of personality into the roster and just sells the game as fun and bonkers.

I'm really excited for this. I'm just waiting to see if it has pass the control/Lite multiplayer. I won't be happy if I have to buy 2 copies to play golf it with the Mrs.

This will be my first Mario Golf game. Golf is probably my least favorite sport out there, sorry to any golf fans around here. It just seems really slow and unengaging. But Super Rush seems to take that problem and throw it out in the new modes they're adding. I'm loving the new outfits for most of the characters, and I'd assume more characters will be coming by the way of post launch DLC, kinda like how Mario Tennis Aces did it.

These Mario sports games may not be the grandest of games, but they're great comfort food.

Will buy but hope strikers is next. I’d also be happy with a Mario 1080 snowboarding game.

@dmcc0 would we be able to play together on separate accounts doing that?

@Mr-Fuggles777 Yeah, regularly play Mario Kart with my son and daughter with a single digital game and 2 consoles.
If you add your account to a second Switch and make it your Home console every account on that Switch can play your games, so just make your wife's Switch your home console. You'll still be able to play your own games using your account on your own Switch, bit she'll also be able to play them on her console.
If she makes your Switch her home console you'll also be able to access her games.

Alternatively, if you're only playing the occasional multiplayer game and don't want to change home consoles, just add each others account and swap consoles - you add your account to her console and play with it, she does the same to yours.

Keeping my eye on this one, not always interested in sports games, but Mario ones tend to make them fun for me. Though the Tennis games have been super "meh" lately, was worried this would end up being the same but so far things look interesting.

...Meh...the Wii U game just looked boring, and Aces...I felt the same, yes it finally brought back "Story"....but I wanted the RPG-style of Story like on the GameBoy games. I had the 3DS game some time ago, but as expected, it only lasted me about a week before I got bored of it.

@Bibi if u have a 3ds, check out that version. It’s awesome. I think this version is geared more towards multiplayer, but it is still a preorder for me!

@rockodoodle I should play more of World Tour sometime. That'll get me practice for when I do get Super Rush, lol. I may get the DLC for it too.

Y'know I really wasn't planning on getting this game but the trailer they released a couple days ago really makes me tempted lol. It's on the wishlist now.
